1. Exude Confidence.
- From the moment you walk through the door to speak, be completely confident and be in command of the situation.
- Say to yourself - "I can do it". Positive self talk boosts your confidence greatly.
- Smile.
2. Relax.
- Take a deep breath, relax.
- When you are tensed, you would struggle to find the right words to speak.
- Don't get stressed.
3. Train Yourself To Speak Without Preparation.
- Public speaking doesn't have to involve writing a speech.
- Even if there is no time, you should be able to deliver a good speech.
- Practice public speaking more as a conversation than reading something to the audience.
4. Keep It Simple.
- Worrying about every word in every sentence adds stress to your thought process.
- Use simple words, it makes audience to follow your flow easily.
5. Learn And Use A New Word Each Day.
- Accept this as a challenge. This would seem tough in the beginning.
- Stick with it and keep making the effort, however, and you'll soon find yourself enjoying the daily challenge.
6. Create Content With Agenda In Mind.
- Follow the below process - ABCDE
ANALYZE, BRAINSTORM, CREATE, DELIVER AND EVALUATE.
- Don't get deviated from your topic.
- Ensure to evaluate your performance after you deliver the speech.
- Know you could do better next time.
7. Use A Sparkline.
- Start by explaining "what is" - the problem, the process, the level of achievement etc., that you want to change.
- Then explain "what could be done".
- Give examples. Watch the pace you talk.
8. Master Your Non-verbal Behavior.
- Don't self block - by crossing your arms.
- Avoid self touch - it indicates nervousness.
- Use your hands to explain - shows openness.
