Isaiah 9 prophecy about Muhammad ﷺ
I will begin with the part where the seal of prophethood on the shoulder is described then go back to the beginning and explain the whole prophecy….
Verse 6 describes the birth of a child “who’s government is upon his shoulder”.
As countless commentaries mention, this refers to the ancient practice of officials and rulers putting symbols of authority like a sword or key upon their shoulder
(2nd commentary is clarke’s)….
Of course, the prophet had a natural seal of authority between his shoulders, upon his left shoulder which is known as “the seal of prophethood”. (Note the second hadith is better translated as “i saw the seal upon his shoulder” since the arabic is عِنْدَ كَتِفِهِ…..
Going back to verse 1, we see it talks about Galilee being honoured. Islam spread there and thus honoured it. It freed galilee from opressive romans and clearer the name of the galilean prophet (Jesus). ….
Verse 2 mentions a great light being seen & reports mention that when the prophet saw was born, a great light emerged from his mother which lit up the palaces of shaam….
V3: u have enlarged the nation which can mean you have honoured it. God honoured the Israelites by sending them their awaited prophet. Many became muslim.
V3-5: God will save israelites from their opressors through war. Muslims warriors saved israelites from roman opressors…
Before muslim conquered palestine, bani israel had been banned from entering jerusalem for 500 years. They had also turned masjid al aqsa into a trash site. Islam freed palestine from its trinitarian opressors and cleansed and rebuilt masjid al aqsa…
Interestingly, verse 4 mentions the yoke that burdens them breaking. The quran describes the prophet as relieving the people of their burdens and shackles. The comparison to midian can refer simply to the intensity of the breaking of the yoke. Similar to the comparison in v3
Verse 6 says the child will be called (by God) Wounderful Counsellor Eternal Father God Warrior Prince of Peace. Rasulullah was miraculous (wonderful) and gave much advice and council. He also brought islam which brings peace. ….
The names “eternal father” & God Warrior” are given to the child but describe God. This was typical of jewish names. Many jewish names are given to humans but describe God. For ex there is a person in the bible named jotham. His name means The Perfect God….
V 7 says he will bring a looong government and peace and will sit on davids throne. The islamic empire began with rasulullah and will even continue when isa who is from this ummah returns. Islam also brough much peace to our hearts. Compare with Psalm 119….
prophet saw sat on davids throne because before his coming the right of God’s kingdom was with the line of david. After rasulullah came, he inherited that right. Islam also conquered palestine which was the land david had ruled as shown below. Hence it inherited davids kingdom….
While the prophet himself didn’t conquer palestine, the text here describes the child as ruling forever. This shows us the description is symbolic here cuz one can not sit on davids throne forever (eventually you will die). Yet he is described as ruling the kingdom even while…
his successors must have taken over. Thus the description matchea the prophet beautifully; he is the root cause because of whome the muslims rules over palestine for centuries.
Christians say the child is jesus but he never brought a government & didnt destroy roman opressors…
In fact he was crucified by the roman opressors according to christians!
Jews say the child is hezekih but the kingdom of the jews was destroyed ~100 years after his reign by the Babylonians.
….
In isaiah 39 isaiah tells hezekiah that would happen & hezekiah realizes his government will only last for a bit. That is completely the opposite of isaiah 9, where the child brings a government which must last a very long time since he’s described as ruling “forever”.
