This is Abudijapar Mengdi from Xinjiang China
A communist party member of 24 years, watching the flag raising ceremony for the first time in Beijing
Several months ago, a video of him went viral on Weibo...๐Ÿงต
Last year, a car driven by tourists got stuck in the middle of nowhere, and the Kirgiz herdsman came to the rescue, when the tourist tried to give him money
He refused and revealed his Party badge
This small gesture went viral in China, and was praised by the Party leadership, because he didn't forget the original intent of the CPC, which is to serve the people.
People with little understanding of China really doesn't know how much support the CPC has
ไธๅฟ˜ๅˆๅฟƒ don't forget one's original intent, is a very popular phrase in China
From the Party leadership to ordinary citizens it's used to describe one's unyielding devotion to a cause
This is especially important today because the temptations for a party member is much greater
This degradation, sadly is even observable within my family
My grandparents were born in the Japanese puppet state of Manchukuo, they didn't even understand what it means to be Chinese for the first few years of their lives
When my granddad joined the CPC as a teenager during the Chinese civil war, he didn't do it because it was a good career path
But because he believed the CPC was the only organization that can liberate the Chinese people from the old oppressive system
The same cannot be said of the successive generation of the family and on a wider context; the entire country, they have forgotten the original intent of the Party
This caused the widespread bureaucratization of the CPC, it was especially bad in the 90s and early 2000s
That is of course until President Xi came along, many may not, but I still remember Xi's first speech as General Secretary in 2012
Even as a kid back then, I can still vividly remember his pledge to fight formalism and bureaucratism
The next 5 years of President Xi's tenure will determine his political legacy and whether he will be a pillar of the socialist cause
I have every confidence in him, because today I see more Abudijapars of the Party, I see the Party my grandfather had joined
