15 tiny habits that'll improve your life more than a 297 page self-help book:
1. Write 3 things you’re grateful for
We all have countless blessings, but how often do we appreciate them?
Humans have a tendency to focus on the negative.
Train yourself to always look for the positive in each day.
The more grateful you are, the better your life will be
2. Invest in experiences
Most people invest in objects, but what we remember are experiences.
You won’t lie on your deathbed and wish you bought another iPhone.
Collect memories, not things.
3. Refuse once a week
Your time belongs to you, and you need to protect it.
Train yourself to say “no” to everything that’s not aligned to your vision.
Life is too short to do things you’re not excited about.
4. Exercise for 1 min. when you wake up
Move your body and get the blood flowing.
Possible exercises:
- Sit-ups
- Pushups
- Bodyweight squads
Use the morning to set the tone for the rest of the day.
5. Throw things away
Everything you own takes space, both physical and mental.
Get rid of the baggage.
The less you own, the lighter you will feel.
6. Stand up every hour
Sitting hurts your posture and blood flow.
Set a timer to get up every hour.
Your head gets clearer and your health will thank you.
7. Turn off notifications
Notification are like torpedos fired at your focus.
You don’t need to be available all the time.
Control your devices instead of them controlling you.
8. Ignore the news
News make you stressed & anxious.
Their purpose is not to inform you, but to provoke an emotional reaction.
The more you react, the more you keep reading. That’s how they make their money.
Don’t give away your mental peace for a newspaper’s profit.
9. Prepare your clothes
Every decision costs energy.
Choose what to wear the night before so you can build momentum in the morning.
10. Drink more water
You already know this.
I just want to remind you to do it.
11. Spend time with yourself
How much time of the day are you distracted?
Take time away from smartphones and other people.
Only in solitude and stillness you can connect with yourself.
12. Observe yourself
Make it a habit to check in on yourself during the day.
What are you doing? Thinking?
How do you feel?
Become aware of your life instead of living on autopilot.
13. Do things right away
Don’t procrastinate 5 days on something that takes 5 min. to do.
Having something in the back of your head takes up mental space and energy.
New rule: If it takes less than 5min. do it right away.
14. Take care of your posture
84% of people I see have bad posture.
It is not only unattractive & unhealthy, it also affects how you feel.
Do yourself a favor and keep your back straight as much as possible.
15. Walk daily
Too many people stay inside all day.
Sun, fresh air and movement will improve your well-being.
Walking is also boosting creativity and helps idea generation.
You won’t believe how much more productive you’ll be by “wasting” time on a walk each day.
