Rasangamardan-Narayan Ray was the Commander-in-chief of Maharaja Dhanyamanikya (1490-1520 AD) of the Tripura kingdom in the south-east of Bengal. Details about him are mentioned in the Tripura Rajamala.

the goddess Chatteshwari statue at Sadarghat in Chittagong. The Tripura army under the able leadership of Commander Rasangamardan finally defeated the Rohingya bandits and most of them were sacrificed in front of Ma Chatteshwari.

Then the victorious Rasangamardan returned to the Tripura capital with the goddess idol and was installed as Goddess Tripureshwari in the state. Chattogram came under the Hindu rule of Tripura kingdom and Rasanga-Mardan was appointed as the feudal chief of Chattogram.
