How To Master Your Emotions (a 2min guide):
1) Bring awareness to your feelings.
Start with tuning into your body language:
• Your facial expression
• Changes in breathing
• Raising your voice
• Fists clenching
• Eyes darting
2) Control your emotions.
Start with controlling your breath:
• Close your mouth
• Take a deep breath in
• Hold it for a few seconds
• Breath out and hold again
Do this for a few cycles until you feel back in control.
3) Build emotional resilience.
Start with taking ownership.
• Did you make a mistake?
• Did you forget something?
• Did you snap at a loved one?
• Did you procrastinate at work?
All this is normal. Accept it happened. Own it, make a plan to improve and then move on.
When you learn to control your emotions, you can transform them:
• Jealousy -> Acceptance
• Anger -> Determination
• Greed -> Contentment
• Doubt -> Inquiry
• Pride -> Grace
