50 years ago today, Idi Amin in Uganda expelled Indians from his country, arguing they are hoarding the wealth and denying opportunity to other Ugandans. The economy plummeted and Uganda eventually welcomed the Indians back. economist.com
It also debunked the theory that the Indians were successful because of unjust hoarding of wealth rather than cultural and social traits, as many of the Indians went to the UK and became a successful diaspora group there.
I think there is still some resentment against Indians, as there usually is against groups perceived as successful, but modern Uganda has embraced them
