1. Meditate
I've been meditating for about 8 years.
It's pound-for-pound the most impactful habit for:
- Reducing stress
- Boosting happiness
- Increasing awareness
Here's a FREE course that I would recommend to any beginner:

2. Create
Creativity is a powerful outlet for our ideas and feelings.
Like a pressure-release valve for our brain.
If I'm consuming too much, and creating too little, my stress will start to build.

3. Unplug
We assault our brains with information NON-STOP.
Try to think of a time when you're not reading, watching, or listening to something.
I'm willing to bet it's not often.
Take time each week to unplug and be alone with your thoughts (scary I know).

4. Exercise
Exercise is like a miracle drug for our brains.
If we can make the habit stick.
The key to forming any habit is to make it enjoyable and sustainable.
Examples:
Enjoy sports? --> Join a rec league
Enjoy Netflix? --> Pair it with a treadmill walk

5. Build a sleep routine
Bad sleep can be an absolute brain killer.
Here are some sleep rules I follow:
- No phone in bed
- No caffeine after noon
- No food 3 hours before bed
- Bedroom must be COOL and DARK
- Wake at the same time every day (even weekends)

6. Talk to someone
Our thoughts lead us to suffer more in our imagination than in reality.
Talking to someone can give us perspective, and help pull us out of negative thought spirals.
It could be a therapist, family member, or just someone you're comfortable with.

7. Never let it win
When anxiety flares up it can be paralyzing.
It can be tempting to just crawl into bed and hope that it passes.
But this is most important time to take action.
If you're going through hell, don't stop and set up camp.
KEEP GOING.
