Prophecy in Deuteronomy 18:15-22 about Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and refuting common objections
🧵:
1/20
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
God says to the Isrealites, I'll raise up a prophet LIKE MOSES from YOUR BRETHREN
2/20 The similarly between Moses and Muhammad (PBUT) is so striking that even non-Muslim sources like
(1)-The Weekly Time Magazine
(2)-Collins Gem dictionary of the Bible
(3)-The Encyclopedia of Religion 10/121
recognize that Moses is like Muhammad (SAW)
3/20 (4)-Amira Bennison, Professor at the University of Cambridge says,
4/20 The Qur'ān affirms Moses is like Muhammad
5/20 Saint Augustine recognizes this passage won't convince any jew or a Gentile that it's speaking about christ
But christians should believe cuz the Gospels says so
(Contra Faustum XVI)
6/20 “From your Brethren?”
Gen 16:12; 25:18 calls Ishamel brethren (of Isreal and Edom)
Hence Ishamaelites are the brethren of the Isrealites as recognized by the rabbbis.
7/20 one might say ok fine, but there's an extra phrase in dt 18:15 “Miqerbeka” (from your midst) which always is used for the Isrealites?
A: This phrase is only present in the MT which is post Islamic (9th century extant)
8/20 Scholars Recognize it's an Addition in the MT
9/20 Rabbis acknowledge the phrase “From your Brethren” in dt 18:18 can refer to a non-Israelite Prophet
10/20 It's even more clear from dt 34:10 Prophet like Moses cannot be an Israelite
The SP says “There will never arise in Israel ever a prophet like Moses...
11/20 Rabbis Admit Prophet like Moses cannot arise in Israel
The stone edition, Chumash explicitly said Among the Non-Jewish nations there could arise such prophet
12/20 The Jewish study bible (Secular Oxford University press) explicitly said there's a contradiction b/w 18:18 and 34:10
(because they assumed 18:18 is about an Isrealite)
Hence proven Prophet like Moses can only be an Ishamaelite
13/20 Some Christians say “Muhammad (SAW) never spoken to God directly” as dt 34:10 says?
Fake new, he did spoke as been recognized by our Scholars throughout history including
1-Hafidh Ibn Kathir
2-Hafidh Ibn Hajar
14/20
(3)- Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziya, he even said just like Moses
15/20
(4)- Sheikh ibn Uthaymeen, even in creedal books we're taught
“Allah spoke to him directly without an intermediary”.
16/20 Two more criteria of being that prophet is that
(1)- He should not give false prophecies
(2)- He should not call to other Gods
17/20 Prophet Muhammad (SAW) gave dozens of so precise and mind blowing prophecies
Checkout:
18/20 Jesus of the NT made a false prophecy, he'll return in his desciples lifetime. Hence he disqualifies as being That Prophet
Wal 'iya dubillah
19/20 Prophet Muhammad (SAW) called to worship Allah alone without associating partners (Allah is used by the Arab jews and Christians btw)
Jesus of the NT (according to Christians) was stoned because he called to worship himself. Hence he disqualifies again
Wal 'iya dubillah
20/20 in conclusion
>The Prophet must be from the brethren of the Isrealites.
>Like Moses
>Cannot be an Israelite Itself.
>Should give true prophecies.
>Not call to unknown gods (Trinity)
