I sent an email every day for 2.5 years for 48 DTC e-commerce brands & generated $60M.
Here’s what I learned🧵:
One pop up isn't enough, you need to target based on behavior and source.
Instead, have three.
→One that targets: Existing customers with an upsell offer/invitation to become VIP
→One that targets: New customers with a new offer
→One that targets: Peopel about to exit
Create an instant upsell for buyers when they make a purchase that is time sensitive.
Ideally, this should be an offer they can't refuse that is still profitable for you but a steal for them!
Make sure to add urgency with a countdown timer. This helps increase AOV instantly.
Avoid sending National Day campaigns and focus on providing value lead campaigns
Split your content strategy into evergreen content buckets and then create a vault of campaigns under each category
These will always convert better than sending a National Bla Bla Day email.
Resends should focus on these key core segments
In order to remain profitable:
1️⃣ Non clickers
2️⃣ Non openers
3️⃣ Non purchasers
Collect zero party data as early as possible within your customer's journey.
This will help to create tailored conversations and messaging
That will increase conversion with your email campaigns.
Consider words and phrases like:
“You qualify”,
“Complimentary”
“We don't usually do this”
Instead of FREE to convey a more premium value prop without having to devalue your brand.
Incorporate SMS into your retention strategy to drive conversions
Use it more as a conversational 1:! tool as opposed to having it canabalise the efforts of email
Usally works well as either a:
i. Exclusive VIP Club
ii. Customer Service Outlet
I’ll be totally honest with you, the majority of eCom brands now don’t even have 5/7 setup
If you have a brand doing over $150K/mo and want to do a strategy call together for free, PM me now
