I’ve grown my agency from 0 to $120k/mo (and not stopping here).
When I started, I had little to no money to outsource.
But these 5 skills helped me keep my expenses below $100/mo:
1/ Coding
I barely need code to operate my agency.
In fact, the only code I do is to customize funnels.
But knowing how to code made me tech savvy.
Which led me to build my agency’s website and avoid spending $2k-$5k.
2/ Lead Gen
I’d argue this is the single best skill anyone can have.
Every business needs new leads.
Every business needs new clients.
If you can’t land new business, you will eventually run out of business.
(see skill #4)
3/ Design
I used to be a freelance designer.
Here’s my two cents:
You don’t need to be skilled in photoshop.
But PLEASE have a basic understanding of how to use Canva or Figma.
It’s hard to live in the age of media, without the skill of producing media.
4/ Email Marketing
Email is the OLDEST medium on the internet.
It won’t die soon.
You can’t be shadow banned.
And it is the highest ROI medium.
Learn:
- List building
- Basic automation
- How to operate within the service provider
Just know how to use list-building tools and cold outreach, ie Hunter + Mailshake/Expandi.
5/ Copywriting
- Emails
- Landing Pages
- Cold Outreach Messages
- Ads
- Website Copy
- Content
You need copy everywhere.
I'd argue it's worth spending a few hours learning the basics (seriously, do it.)
TL;DR:
If you run your own agency, learn these skills:
1/ Coding
2/ Lead Gen
3/ Design
4/ Email Marketing
5/ Copywriting
Thank you for reading.
