I really believe talking to a camera is one of the most important skills you can develop in the modern world. It gives you a competitive edge and opens the door to countless opportunities.
Here’s a few reasons why:
1. Provide value at scale
Making videos on a platform like YouTube, with an algorithm that has the potential to push you, could further your impact.
A teacher in a classroom can only reach a limited number of students, a teacher on YouTube can reach millions.
2. Develop your confidence and personality
Learning how to talk to a camera has forced me to become more comfortable with my personality. You figure out who you are and what kind of person you want to present to the world as you consistently make content.
3. Make connections
Most of what I do now is built around the friends and community that have come from speaking to a camera. It sounds weird, but showing your face online is a way of networking with like-minded people.
4. Forced learning
Knowing I have to make YouTube videos every week forces me to learn more so that I can continue to provide value.
I know I've got stuff to say, but I also know that reading a book means I have something new to share, so I'm more likely to read it.
5. Define your voice
Constantly speaking to a camera is one of the most powerful ways to figure out what you believe in and what message you want to spread.

6. Money
I've shared a lot on YouTube about how much money I've made from talking to a camera.
It's the value at scale thing. When you help solve problems for lots of people, society compensates you. But for 4 years I was literally just talking to a camera in my bedroom...
With those reasons in mind, I decided to make a new course about Camera Confidence where I share everything I know about talking to a camera.
You'll get to see behind the scenes of how I make videos, my warm up routine and the different techniques I've picked up along the way.
I'll be releasing the course in a few weeks, but if you're interested in hearing more and want access to a free 5 day crash course, sign up here πŸ‘‡ aliabdaal.com
