there is no way to criticize this whole development without being accused of gatekeeping, or for being against accessibility of art, or for being some sort of capitalist demon who wants to put work and effort between people and creative expression

some mostly have issues with AI image gen when it comes to how it fits into capitalism and exploitation, but personally, I think it goes beyond that
I think AI has a great potential to empower artists, when it's a tool to help interpolate, refine, and extrapolate

to me, there's more heart, humanity, and art in a napkin doodle, than there is in the most aesthetically algorithmically optimized AI images out there

the few AI image gen projects that I *would* call art, isn't art because the image is an art piece, but because of the meta-narrative of the prompt, the framing, and the communication around it
so sure, it's possible to use AI to make art, but its output isn't art, in my view
