Queen Elizabeth, the longest serving British Monarch, has passed away after 96 eventful years. It's difficult to not admire this lady of enormous grace and dignity.
As we say in our tradition, may she again Sadgati.
As we admire the Queen, we must reflect upon a few things.
+
What I admire the British is the way they retain all their Tradition in the backdrop of all Modernity and Rationality they developed.
They understand the importance of Tradition and the enormous stability it brings through Continuity with Change.
+
The tragic irony of all this is they used the very Modernity they developed to Colonize the world & Destroy all Traditions of other societies that came in the way of their Coloniality.
Today we do not treat our Royalty with this respect, leave alone striving for Continuity.
+
The greater tragedy is that they taught all those societies to be in awe & respect of the very establishment of Britain that destroyed their Societies & Traditions, taught them to self destroy their traditions & look down upon them, institutionalized through education.
+
Their Education Systems are a monumental and successful Engines excelling in the generation of self loathing people.
Thus, we at the same time respect the continuous British Tradition but disrespect and seek to destroy our own.
+
What is more fascinating is that we do not even see this apparent contradiction, even as we fervently indulge in it.
That is the mind boggling achievement of the British Colonialism, of which Queen Elizebath was a distinguished representative.
+
When I look at our own English speaking media reporting and people responding to her death, it's impossible for me to not wonder about this ironical tragedy.
This is my condolence message on her death.
