Genetic admixture model of Pathans. Finally modelled them successfully on qpAdm. The outlier from Loebanr is the gift that keeps on giving.
Since Loebanr is 40% Steppe, this would put Pathans at around 30% Steppe.
Notice something really interesting? The Punjabi Indian sample (likely Khatri) gets the exact same result.
This time, I get the highest p-value I've ever gotten on PUN,SG
I think this shows lot of Pathans are just Indo-Aryans from Swat who got Iranicized.
This also explains why some Pakistan Pashtuns are so genetically close to some Indian Punjabis. Meanwhile, Afghan Pashtuns are fairly distinct. I'm no expert on Pashtun tribes but I bet it would be interesting study to see which ones are the "original"
Tentative admixture breakdown of Loebanr_o. Not sure how much BMAC ancestry there is, but maybe around ~15% ish plus minus a few.
Here are the files for the models

2) pastebin.com - Punjabi
