Terrible things are transpiring from Uyghur regions, including severe and potentially life-threatening conditions caused by lockdowns. Thanks to two media outlets who so far reported on it.
I call once again on Uyghurs to partner up to create professional OSINT capabilities:๐Ÿงต
Take the Ukraine war: multiple trusted OSINT teams verify, geolocate, triangulate, translate and explain open source video, audio, images, social media posts, etc.
This is so much more powerful than only posting them. Not all media has the bandwith to engage in related OSINT.
Many social media users lack the Uyghur language or OSINT skills to verify related claims.
I think the Uyghur community could make much more of some the the posted material if it created a dedicated team that carefully documents its method and sources, partners with...
...trusted existing OSINT teams, is very conservative in its claims, and gradually builds up reputation over several years. This atrocity is going nowhere. This should be planned as a long-haul strategy.
I had suggested this on several occasions, and I am suggesting it again.
My heart very much goes out to the Uyghur community at this time, praying for strength in the face of what appear to be depictions of utter desperation and even death amid a ruthless COVID lockdown.
Years of oppression have left Uyghurs in the region utterly helpless.
And important report by RFA who were first to report on the situation (hot @SeytoffAlim):

Autocorrect messed up, this was supposed to be h/t
And another good report on the lockdown in the region by @Colum_M
