1. Open ahrefs
2. Click on Content Explorer
3. Enter a topic
4. Click on Websites
5. Add a filter for Domain Rating from 0 to 30
6. Show results

5. Add a filter for Domain Rating from 0 to 30
6. Show results
The results are ordered by total traffic.
You can adjust the DR filter if yours is higher or lower to find sites you can compete with.
Paste each one into Site Explorer to see what keywords they rank for.

I also like to check the SERP manually before adding a keyword to my list to make sure that there's space for me at the top half of page 1.
