I learned 173 rules of copywriting.
I burned and buried 167 of them.
Why?
Because they mislead you and don't do the work.
The rest 6 rules have generated millions in sales (for me)
What are these 6 Yet To Be Buried Rule Of Copywriting?
>> A thread 🧵<<
Copywriting isn't hard to learn.
It's super simple.
You start by watching all YouTube videos.
You read every other tweet and thread
Compile all the rules out there - vague
Thinking you're becoming a master at persuasion
But allow me to hold your hands and tell you the truth
Copywriting is a hard skill to master!
A hard pill to swallow.
And NO!
I'm not trying to scare you away.
I've once been there - it was difficult.
Writing copy with templates.
"7 Amazing Ways to…" ❌
"The Powerful System that…" ❌
Following rules that yield zero results.
$0 was made.
Until I dump all these 167 rules in the garbage
Then pick up these 6 rules and master them
Fast forward to today
These 6 rules have generated millions in sales for me and my clients.
Want to know what these 6 rules are?
Hop on a ride with me.
I won't bore you.
1] Yet To Be Buried Rule Of Copywriting:
âś… The Rule Of One.
Probably…
You've heard this countless times - but what does it mean?
Here it is.
Humans will follow you if you take them on a ride
On a long journey
Once the road is smooth and straightforward
No hidden routine
No cornerstone.
If you choose to talk about A in your copy.
You should keep the rest of the alphabet away from your copy.
A and A throughout.
Once you're talking about "ShockWave" don't talk about the "Falling Dollar."
Your copy isn't a mixed reaction.
Don't forget the rule of one.
> One Big Idea.
> One Unique Mechanism.
> One USP.
> One Offer.
> One CTA.
Do you grab?
Good.
2] Yet To Be Buried Rule Of Copywriting:
âś…Use The Customer Lingos.
They'll not tell you about this…
But the language our great-grandpa spoke in their 90s is different from what we currently speak today.
I've got my dad to ask me many times…
"What Kind of language is this one you're speaking? This is not how we do in our time"
Then I said to him.
Dad this ain't your time this is how we speak it now
The world is changing and everything keeps moving
You should move with it as well
Every other market has its Lingos
The language we used in the financial market is different from what they used in the health niche.
So…
In order to get your reader to trust and believe in you - you need to speak their language.
This way… they'll believe you know them more than they know themselves.
3] Yet To Be Buried Rule Of Copywriting:
âś… Show Don't Tell.
If you tell me your marketing framework has generated millions of sales for a particular business.
I'll find it hard to believe you.
Why?
Because every other marketer can say that.
But if you choose to show me the initial result.
The clear screenshot of the amount you've generated.
Then and then will I believe you.
The level of trust will rise.
You'll think you've played the game the right way.
But I might still be skeptical.
Do you know why? - that can as well be cooked up.
But if the testimony is coming from a third party.
A word of mouth from the CEO of the brand you help.
Testimonies from your mentees who sign up for your coaching.
If you can do this.
You've locked me in the room of trust and I have no other option than to believe you.
Onward…
4] Yet To Be Buried Rule Of Copywriting:
âś… Tell a Story.
In the past 100 centuries before the word marketing was established.
The six most interesting words are "Let Me Tell You A Story"
So tell a story because the story sells…
It makes people feel you know them more than they know themselves.
Stories trigger emotions.
It gets people to bring out their cards.
It's good to tell a story.
Why? - because stories sell.
But hey…
Don't just tell a story but tell a relatable story.
Before you tell a story.
Ask yourself a question.
What question is that?
Ask yourself - "What's the core point I'm trying to pass across?"
Then check your story.
If it doesn't convey the point.
Don't tell it.
I've warned you!
5] Yet To Be Buried Rule Of Copywriting:
âś… Use Big Four Emotions.
These four emotions are everything you need to convey in your copy.
Why? - because it is what human emotion is made up of.
> We Humans Want Something NEW.
You're currently using an iPhone 13 pro max?
Once iPhone 14 is launched what will you do?
You'll find your way to dump 13 and go for the new iPhone 14.
Meanwhile, they are a little different.
That's why NEW is important in your copy.
Position your offer as new in the market and watch your sales number count up faster.
> Humans Want Something BIG and They Want it FAST.
Show them how to make big money then show them how to make it faster than ever before.
Show them how to grow their Twitter account to 10k+ within a month or less and they'll rush your ebook.
Are you getting the point?
We as humans all want instant gratifications.
A salesperson who understands this uses it to play the game for their benefit.
And HELL!
It's not manipulating.
> Humans Love Something EASY.
Sell them a done-for-you program
A copy and paste template…
Tell them it is easy and anybody can do it
The reason is that…
Human beings including you and I are lazy beings.
We don't want to do the heavy lifting but want the body and the shape
We don't want to do the hard and boring work but want to make the money.
Show them it easy and they'll rush your product.
> Humans as well Love Something SAFE.
Tell them it will work for them.
Show them they're safe around you.
Show them it has worked for Brown, John, and Joseph and it will work for them.
After all…
Give them a guarantee that they'll get their money back if it didn't work for them.
How else can you make them feel safe around you and your offer?
Give it to them.
So anytime you're writing make sure you communicate something New… EASY… SAFE & BIG (NESB)
I learned this from Kyle Milligan and it's a game changer for me.
In the end…
6] Yet To Be Buried Rule Of Copywriting:
âś…It's Not About YOU (yourself) It's About YOU [your prospects].
After completing this thread.
I first delete this part of it.
The reason is that I don't want to give you random rules that don't work.
But I get to realize this one rule alone can ruin the entire empire you've been building all this while.
So when writing…
Always remember it isn't about you the seller but your prospect.
Make your copy customer-centric.
Avoid the use of "I, I, I, I" and use more "You" in your copy.
Follow these Yet To Be Buried Rules Of Copywriting and every other thing will fall into place.
And that's the end.
