I began working on an NFT project called The Bakery more than a year ago.
It has come with many trials and tribulations.
This is everything that I’ve done to get us to where we are.
First, I wrote threads. Lots of them. 132 25+ tweet-long threads in 464 days.
Next, I began working on a website to post articles.
I registered a domain, configured, and optimized it.
I created several iterations of a site only to scrap it and use Wordpress for hosting + CMS.
I designed graphics, wrote tons of descriptions, & created pages for content.
I wrote 76 articles, created 76 thumbnails, and proofread all of them.
I redesigned the site several times to look better.
I deliberated our token economics for months.
I deployed hundreds of testnet smart contracts and tokens to test everything.
I came up with 15 backgrounds, 10 pastries, 14 utensils, and 18 different plates with their respective names.
I determined their rarities, & figured out how to generate the layers of an NFT collection.
I learned the ins and outs of IPFS and NFT metadata.
I launched the Bakery NFT, a tokenized subscription to The Bakery.
I integrated a paywall which lets only holders of the NFT read the entirety of special research.
I created accounts on the website for users to post and comment on pages.
I fixed thousands of bugs and errors on the platform.
I reconstructed the SQL database after it became corrupted, & our backup failed. Then rebuilt the site with NextJS
I launched a Discord, created roles, invited members, and made a cool access control model using Bakery NFTs.
I started a YouTube channel, found sound effects, did voice overs, wrote scripts, and edited videos.
I learned how to use docker & set up a self-hosted discourse forum for the project.
I integrated our NFTs using a custom plugin, only letting holders see forum posts.
I created a newsletter, set up SMTP servers, and let users sign up using private NFT metadata.
I created a Shopify store, designed merch, ordered inventory, and integrated a 25% discount for all NFT holders
I created an NFT referral generator, which lets users receive rewards on all buys from their links.
I created an ENS DAO with bakerydao.eth subdomains, letting NFT holders claim their own usernames
I deployed on Optimism, Polygon, and Arbitrum.
I measured on-chain contributions and tracked activity in the bakery for future airdrops
I sent 8,449 messages in Discord to keep the community active.
I redesigned the NFTs into SVGs, allowing them to live dynamically on-chain.
I created bots to constantly refresh the NFT metadata on open sea to stay up to date.
I created a community section on the site, letting NFT holders post their own research.
I configured SEO meticulously on each page, adding keywords and changing names.
I set up .@0xSplits with our smart contracts, automatically distributing NFT purchases amongst the Chefs and the BakeryDAO.
I hired team members, grew my networks, and handled all customer support.
I marketed, reached out for collaborations, and grew the community.
I watched for months as the NFT mania continued on, holding off launch to make sure everything was just right.
I ran on countless nights without any sleep.
I even poured tens of thousands of dollars of my own money into this project.
Now we are about ready to take this to the next level.
If you’re tired of just the average NFT pfp collection with zero-utility, come to .@theBakeryDAO
We work hard and like to drop alpha. Stay tuned. 🍞
