Just finished it, and I have terrible things to say about the soul of this movie, or lack thereof. In trying to "see all sides", it chooses a narrative that actually spits in the face of the Nigerian Citizen, the victim of intentional police brutality.
Yes, Naija Police are underpaid and get poor welfare. But the idea that they sign up anyway out of patriotism needs to be scrutinised. That's usually a lie. They sign up for power and a shot at using that power to extort money from you and I.
By choosing to give Officer Magnus the first, more rare motivation (patriotism) rather than the 2nd, common one (greed/hustle), the movie chose to make cop and citizen equal victims of the system. A slap in our faces. Cops CHOOSE to be cops in a bad system.
It's this same cowardly, uncritical thinking that led to adding Police Welfare in the 5for5, or protesters wanting to paint stations.
Nigerians are always being told to pacify their abusers.
Remember: cops CHOSE to be cops. They chose the hardship, for the chance to extort you.

The filmmakers had every right to tell this cowardly, appeasing, quisling, "see both sides" story. Of course.
But, tacking on those EndSarsish scenes at the end, to ascribe to their abomination of a story a claim to standing for justice(!), is a grave insult to the dead.
