I've been thinking hard about this decision
but I want to be honest with y'all
I decided to quit trading forever
Here's why:๐Ÿงต
HA!
You really thought I'd give up trading?
Trading's been the best thing to ever happen to me lol
Anyways, here's a thread on when you SHOULD give up on trading:๐Ÿงต
(actually)
As much as I talk about not giving up, I do think there's a time when you should
It's a very tough decision, but let me explain:
Trading is very difficult.
It took me 2.5 years before I eventually became profitable
So I don't want what I say to persuade you, but I think you should hear me out
1. You're not passionate about trading
With anything in life, it will be hard to succeed if you don't ENJOY what you're doing
Although I hated losing money and being frustrated all the time...
There was nothing that made me happier than looking at charts
I could do it all-day
So if you started trading with the intention to get rich (i guess we all did lol)
but realized that you HATE researching stocks, backtesting, journaling, etc.
It means you probably won't succeed
Success takes consistency and obsession
If you hate trading, you most likely won't ever be profitable
Reason #2๐Ÿ‘‡
You have a low risk tolerance
Trading involves risk
When I first started, I thought maybe I'd lose a little before I became profitable
Then it was $15k before I knew it
If you can't stomach losing enough money before you reach the success curve, it may not work for you
Just like every business...
Most people lose MORE than they expect in the beginning
I'm not saying you'll lose everything you have
But if you are someone that doesn't like taking risks...
Trading isn't for you
I don't want what I've said to discourage anyone
I sacrificed everything, had tons of depression, frustration, you name it
Lost $15k, hours of time everyday, etc.
But I was able to stick it out
It was the best decision ever to keep going at it
Cause if you feel like your at rock bottom, there's only one way up๐Ÿš€
