1400 years ago, in the harshest of dry desert conditions, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ predicted that “the land of the Arabs will once again become meadows and rivers.” [1]
The above statement is two-fold:
1. Arabia USED to be green and full of rivers.
2. Arabia WILL ONCE AGAIN BE green and full of rivers again in the future.

Now these were very far-fetched claim to make. Even until recently, an issue confused scientists who studied the history of human migration.
Believing that humanity originated from Africa posed an issue, since the ancient humans needed to pass through Arabia to spread throughout the earth; but for many years, it was thought that the area was too arid for travel. [2] As recently as 1987, Arabians deserts remained dry.
But in modern times, due to irrigation methods these deserts have now been transformed to greenery, growing vegetation and fruits just as the Prophet ﷺ predicted.
This series of photographs taken by astronauts on the International Space Station present an almost surreal view of abundant green fields of the Wadi As-Sirhan Basin in the midst of a barren desert in Northern Saudi Arabia: [3]
The Prophet was also spot on about Arabia’s green and wet past. Archaeologists have only recently found fossils of animals such as hippos in Arabia to confirm this. [4] This shows Arabia must have had an abundance of water to host such animals.
What makes this prophecy amazing is that it cannot be explained naturalistically as the Prophet ﷺ did not have access to modern technology that helped discover the history and future of Arabia’s geology.
