80% of your visitors won't read past the headlines on your landing page.
Here are 12 headline formulas to make sure they do:
1/ [Differentiate Your Product] x [Why They Should Buy Your Product]
Your first line captures the key difference between you and your competition.
Your second reveals the benefit of buying your product.
2/ [Simplify What Your Product Is] x [Simplify Why It's Different]
9 out of 10 visitors bounce off the average landing page, and the 10% that stay spend less than 15 secs.
Use that window to break your product down to its essentials.
3/ [Use An Analogy To Explain Why You’re Different]
From pop culture references to inside jokes, you can use analogies to amplify your consumers’ pain point and show that you are one of them.
4/ [List The Benefits] x [Infuse Alliteration]
Your visitors don’t care about what features your product has.
They only care about what they stand to gain from it.
Outline the benefits of using your product and in doing so, sprinkle in some alliteration.
5/ [State The Value Proposition]
Clear copy beats smart/funny copy any day.
When in doubt, clearly state the value your visitor will gain from using your product.
That's it.
6/ [Contrast x Complement]
Juxtaposing two opposites elicits curiosity from the reader.
Throwing in a compliment invites them to scroll further.
7/ [Position] x [Create Your Own Race]
Don’t fight for a seat at a table that’s already crowded.
Instead, build your own.
Carve out a niche where your product positions itself as the trailblazer.
8/ [Introduce The Product] x [Say What It Does]
The best-performing headlines are easily understood at a glance.
KISS.
9/ [Value Creation] x [Tackle The Objection Behind It]
Addressing your buyer’s objections even before they bring them up shows you thoroughly understand their pains.
It also shows that you have a handle on it.
10/ [Define The Outcome] x [Explain What Creates The Outcome]
Don’t simply outline your buyer’s end goal.
Explain how your product will get them there.
11/ [Be Specific] x [Add Your Hook]
Say what you help customers do.
And say how you do it differently than everyone else.
12/ [State The Pain Point] x [Add The Wanted Desire]
Find what they're dealing with now and state how you can solve it in the near future.
