Haplogroups of the Swat Indians. New post on my blog.
Only 11% of the Y-DNA of SPGT Indians was from the Steppe. Three most common indigenous lineages were L1a, R2a and E1b1b, making up a total of 49% of the 63 samples. These were likely IVC lineages.

L1a was by far the most common lineage, appearing in 14/63 (22%) of the samples. Interestingly enough, haplogroup L is a lineage found in very high percentage in the Jats of India (38%) but also in even higher percentage amongst many South Indian tribes!
This pretty much confirms the fact Y-DNA L was spread in South India by migrants from the Indus Valley, and the fact that it peaks in many Dravidian tribes, going up to 68% is one more line of evidence for Indus Valley being partially Dravidian speaking.
L-M20 also has high frequencies in Gujarat, another center of the Indus Valley!
