Thinking about how during the US intervention in Syria, the US dropped a 2000lb pound bomb on Tabqa Dam, threatening to kill hundreds of thousands of people in the flood zone, and then droned an emergency repair team as it rushed to respond.
The US denied it had any involvement for years. It’s possible that the people in charge genuinely didn’t even know we did it. No one was punished, no one knows who even gave the order. There are so many off the books projects going on.
This wouldn’t always be a problem but these days there’s no guarantee that people in senior/elite roles aren’t just deranged idiots. Just look at the stuff these people say on Twitter.
