@Hadithoftheday Allah says in Qur'an:
βThe alms are meant only for the poor & the needy & those who are in charge thereof, those whose hearts are to be reconciled,& to free those in bondage, and to help those burdened with debt, & for expenditure in the Way of Allah and for the wayfarer.β(9:60)

@Hadithoftheday The rate that must be paid for Zakat is one quarter of one tenth (2.5%).
Zakat donation should amount to 2.5% of one's total wealth accumulated over the year.
Allah says in Qur'an:
βAnd establish prayer and give Zakat.β (2:110)

@Hadithoftheday Zakat literally means βto cleanseβ but is recognised by many as βcharityβ. Allah has intentionally created different levels of wealth for each individual to test humanity and generosity amongst believers
@Hadithoftheday Every year, Muslims have to pay a 2.5% share of their held wealth (cash, property, gold, and silver) over a certain threshold to charity to help those less fortunate than themselves.

@Hadithoftheday An important lesson of Zakat is the acknowledgeable that nothing we gain in this world is ever truly ours, it will not accompany us to the Hereafter, and it has no use to be buried with us.
It is our good deeds towards those who need help & support that will help us enter Jannah

@Hadithoftheday In order for zakaah to be due on money, two conditions must be met:
1. That it reaches the nisaab (minimum threshold)
2. That one year has passed since it reaches the nisaab.
If the money is less than the nisaab, then no zakaah is due on it.

@Hadithoftheday If it reaches the nisaab, and one year has passed, i.e. a lunar (hijri) year has passed since the time when it reached the nisaab, then zakaah becomes due at that point.
The nisaab is the equivalent of 85-87 grams of gold or 595-612 grams of silver.

Every Muslim is not obligated to pay Zakat as per the rules set out in the holy Qurβan.

@Hadithoftheday To be eligible to pay Zakat, one must be past the age of puberty, of Muslim faith, sound mind, free and have a positive cash/goods flow, as well as a personal wealth which exceeds the Nisab value.
@Hadithoftheday The Qurβan determined who is eligible to receive Zakat, stating,
Zakat are only for the Fuqara' (poor), and Al-Masakin (the needy) and those employed to collect (Zakat funds); and for to attract the hearts of those who have been inclined (towards Islam); & to free the captives+

@Hadithoftheday and for those in debt; and for Allah's Cause (i.e. for Mujahidun - those fighting in the holy wars), and for the wayfarer (a traveller who is cut off from everything); a duty imposed by Allah. And Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.β (Qur'an 9:60)
