Do you need one?
No.
But you can get started and make sales without having an LLC.
Most sellers (myself included) realize it takes time and money when starting, so want to see sales before taking the time to create an entity.

What you need for an LLC:
1. Legal Name
2. Registered Agent (you if u live in state)
3. Operating agreement
4. Filing w State Secretary Office
5. EIN (tax #)
It will cost between $300-500.
If you CAN, file in a non-income tax state (WY, NV, TX, FL,etc)

My Take:
1. Make sales first (don't waste time)
2. Once you hit $10k sales, start the process
Amazon requires you purchase Product Liabilitly insurance once you hit $10k sales three straight months.
You'll need an LLC at that point.
