Running your Amazon PPC Ads wrongly can cost you THOUSANDS of $$$$.

1. Setting up your PPC Campaigns
The first mistake people make is not structuring their campaigns well.
If you don't have structure, you will overspend and lose out on efficiency.
PPC campaigns should move in stages, and your setup depends on what stage you're at.
If you're brand new and you're launching a new product, you want to be SUPER aggressive in your PPC campaigns.
The whole goal is to drive sales and rank on page 1 for all of your highly relevant KWs.
Often, newbies don't realize that they should be aggressive from day one, and act too conservatively.
This is the wrong approach to take when starting out, you want to throw everything at your KWs and rank.
We can make profits later on down the product lifecycle
Here are a couple of key rules I stick to:
- Setup BROAD, EXACT, and ASIN matches
- 5 Keywords (MAX) per campaign
- Don't mix Campaign match types
- Use Negative KWs
- Double down on what's working
2. Not Targeting Relevant KWs
When you look through the KWs that you want to target for your PPC campaign, make sure they are highly relevant.
E.g. If my product is a "Hammock for Toys" then advertising on the KW "Toy" is going to be expensive and too broad.
I need to niche down on KWs like "Kids Toy Hammock" and "Toy Hammock for Boys".
Make sure that you are staying relevant and not wasting those precious $$$$.
If you are in doubt as to whether a KW is relevant, just do an Amazon search for it.
You should expect to see 75-80% of your product in the search results.
If not... the KW is too broad.
3. Not Using Bid Placement Increase
This is a big one, and I don't see enough people talking about this.
Your competitors are using Placements, so you should be using this.
Experiment with placements to improve your position in search results and ASIN targeting.
