Dear PG Students,
Presentation of Results and Discussion of Findings:
Result is the outcome of data analysis. The process of data analysis simply means that there are specific information (Results) you want to get in order to provide a narrative (Discussion of Findings)
🧵
In presenting your results, do not forget to arrange them from ‘preliminary to confirmatory’. This concept allows you to show how your results inter-connect and providing details in a chronological order.
Analogy:
In the court of Law, a Lawyer presents evidences to
defend his client. The evidences are the data the Lawyer gathers after multiple briefings with clients. This is similar to data analysis to get results. The Lawyer will build a case by providing evidences in sequence.
The Lawyer’s process of defending a client entails providing the various evidences and he discusses how each evidence exonerates the client. In narrating the implications of evidences (Discussion of Findings), the Lawyer uses previous cases to either corroborate his argument in..
an attempt to get freedom for the client or implicate the other parties involved. The Lawyer will not lose sight of the accusation against the client hence will never cite any unrelated case or offer narrative that can potentially weaken the argument.
In conclusion, present your result without compromising the objectives and research questions of the study.
Discuss your Findings by isolating the most potent results and tell the readers what the isolated results mean🙏
