Let's talk about MTM screenshots...
A small thread, citing the reality and probably trying to maybe save one newbie from traps
PS: I strongly believe that twitter is a very good platform, you get to connect easily with people who could have been otherwise unreachable.
Most people come to markets thinking that this is some easy way to make quick bucks. Had this been true, there wouldn't be a single person living BPL in India.
Most of these people are attracted by MTM screenshots ranging from few 50-70L per day to a few crores.
Obviously not all are fake, there are some really good people out there who are doing a great job.
Now the issue is those who have reached that level, it doesn't happen in a few months, its a result of years of efforts, everyone starts small initially.
Those who are starting their journey in markets, try to learn how this business works first of all, give yourself atleast 1.5-2 years in live markets, learning and implementing things you've learnt. Find the right people, there's literally a lot of free content available online.
But most people won't do this, they're used to spoon feeding (this comes from our education system I believe).
Coming to MTM screenshots, I hope you got the point by now, you'll have your gains and your losses for yourself, nobody else is going to come and fix it.
I don't believe in MTM sharing because at the end If I make losses I am not asking anyone to fix it and when I make gains I don't share those profits to anyone. So what's the point of sharing it? I don't see any value addition that any MTM will provide.
If someone is going through my tweets they're taking out time and that should add value. So sharing analysis, charts and logic behind any trade makes more sense to me. It also keeps me in check of what I'm doing, more like a dairy of my trades.
My advice will be: Please have rational expectations, know how brutal markets can be, know your risk appetite. Don't take a loan for trading, work hard save money and then trade/invest. Baap ka paisa, sasur ka paisa nahi laane ka bazaar me.
