Biography and Mission of Shaykh Al-Islam Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhab رحمه الله

The Shaykh رحمه الله was born in 1115 AH/1703 CE in Uyana
The Famous Historian Hussain ibn Ghannam lived at that particular time, he dedicated the first vol “Rawḍat al-afkār wa-al-afhām” about the Shaykh' Biography and situation of Arabian peninsula
2/23 hussain ibn Bashir has a good detailed biography of the Shaykh in “'Anwan al-Najd”

3/23 other Ulema who were the contemporary of the Shaykh also wrote about the Situation of Najd in the 18th century, including as-San'ani and ash-Shawkani, and all mentioned Misguidance and Shirk was widespread
People worshipped Domes, Shrines, Trees, Individuals and Rocks.
4/23 There were 17 trees worshipped in 'Uyanah and the greatest Shrine in the peninsula was of “Zayd Ibn al-Khattab” in Jubayra where they'd seek refuge
Women would go to Shrine and say,
“ya fahl al-fuhul, uridu zawjan qabla al-haul” (I desire a Husband before i become barren)
5/23 Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhab Ibn Suleiman at-Tamimi an-Najdi al-Hanbali, since a very young age started seeking knowledge from his Father who was Qadhi (judge) of al-Najd and his GrandFather was called Mufti of the entire Najd
By the age of 10 he has memorized the Qur'ān.
6/23 he Started studying books of Hadith, Fiqh, Tafsir etc. And had a profound impact and inspiration from the Works of Ibn Taymiyyah and Ibn Qayyim
At the age of 18, the Shaykh went to Hajj with the intention of calling towards Allah.
7/23 he lifted his Hands there and begged Allah to give him the ability, strengthen him and open people's heart for him and Aid in coveying Da'wah (just at 18 y'old)
8/23 He went to Ahsar, Makkah, Madinah, Iraq, Basra and benefited from Scholars
Two great 'Alim in Madinah, Muhammad Hayat as-Sindi (From Kibar Muhadith and Senior Scholar) and Abdullah ibn Ibrahim an-Najdi (whom he took Sanad going back to al-Bukhari and Imam Ahmad)
9/23 just at the age of 25 he authored Kitab at-Tawheed and the Shaykh name was being discussed in the corners of Arabian Peninsula
Today in the Universities and Circles of Knowledge, this book is being taught and given alot importance.
10/23 In 1139 AH when the Shaykh came back to Uyanah from Basrah, he saw his father was in conflict with the leader of Uyanah
both migrated to Huraybila and the Shaykh started sending letter to Scholars across Najd talking about the widespread Issues and giving the Txt evidences
11/23 in 1153 AH the Shaykh's Father passed away, which left a vacuum and His enemies took the opportunity to attack him
Shaykh went back to Uyanah on the request of new Leader of Uyanah (prev one died) Uthman ibn Nasir ibn muamar who loved the Shaykh excessively
12/23 The Shaykh busied himself in Knowledge and teaching people around him
With the alliance of Uthman bin muamar, The Shaykh commanded to destroy the Trees and symbols of Shirk
threats and warnings were being sent to Uthman bin muamar but he took patience and carried on
13/23 everything was going well till Uthman sent 600 horsemen with the Shaykh to destroy the biggest Shrine in Jubayra of the brother of Umar bin al-Khattab (RA)
It shook the Jazira Arab. The Threats became excessive
Leader of Ahsar sent letters to to kick the Shaykh
14/23 The Shaykh flogged a woman who acknowledged commiting Zina (she was close to the leaders of Uyanah)
This time the letters and threats became non-stop and Final warning was sent or else war would be declared
The Shaykh left Uyanah walking not knowing where he heading to
15/23 In the middle of his journey it came to mind if he go to dir'iyah, he went and stayed with his student as-Suhaylim
He also met Abdul Aziz (son of Muhammad ibn Sau'd)
His wife told him to give victory to the Shaykh. He said let him come. His wife said, no. You'll go there
16/23 The Shaykh said no one gives victory to the deen except Allah gives it victory
MUHAMMED bin Saud demanded 2 conditions
Shaykh won't leave them later, (yes)
Taking tax from the people, Shaykh denied and said no, Allah will suffice
17/23 after taking the pledge, Shaykh went to the masjid and started giving Duroos and educating people. People around the peninsula would come to seek knowledge from him in groups one after the another
He'd have halaqa in Aqida, Fiqh, Hadith, Tafsir.
18/23 In 1159 first war broke out between them and the leader of Riyad who broke the contract
The sharif of Mecca issued fatwa against the Shaykh and his followers of Misguidance and Kufr, and they were banned for 50 years from entering Hajj.
19/23 The Shaykh focused only on Asl al-Imam, didn't disputed on mere fiqh rulings. Lies were fabricated against him during his life time and even today people fabricate lies against the Shaykh because he refuted the Grave worshippers

21/23 The Shaykh رحمه الله brought nothing new, he was a unique Mujadid in History who had not only knowledge but Allah Aided him with government to spread the Dawah unlike Imam Ahmad and Ibn Taymiyyah who were persecuted by the enemies

23/23 The Shaykh established an Islamic State Alhamdulillah, to this day Saudi Arabia is the most practicing Islamic country free from pagan shrines and Biddaat
