The word "Web3" was first coined in 2014 by Gavin Wood (Polkadot founder and Ethereum co-founder)
Today, Giant companies are shifting and hiring in Web3
Here is everything you need to know about Web3 and why you should care ๐Ÿงต
You've probably heard about Web3; it has been trending everywhere, from Twitter to Reddit. Every day more and more people are transiting to Web3. The demand for developers is increasing as Crypto use grows at an exponential rate.
Skills in blockchain development are among the most in demand in the tech industry. To keep it short and straightforward Web3 is all about decentralization โ€” it aims to give users more control over their data.
Why Web3?
Web 3's primary benefit is that it seeks to solve the most serious issue that has arisen as a result of Web 2: the gathering of personal data by private networks, which is subsequently sold to marketers or potentially stolen by hackers.
Web 3's network is decentralized, meaning a single organization does not control it, and the decentralized applications (apps) are created on top of the blockchain. Since Web3 is made up of a decentralized network of computers, they are high probability they won't crash.
What are some Web3 use cases?
โ†’ Power to artists/content creators
By representing ownership of art with NFTs (non-fungible tokens) artists can go directly to patrons with a smart contract and be able to have a clear, direct relationship with the people consuming their art.
Web3 introduces a real ownership model to the Internet that combines economics, art, technology, game theory, and technology in an incredibly interesting way.
โ†’ Governance experiments
Tokens can also give you access to voting rights. Organizations known as DAOs (Decentralized Autonomous Organizations) are being run off members voting on policy proposals.
โ†’ Social media
Web3 protocols such as @LensProtocol and @Livepeer empower a new era of social media networks that emphasize the creator-driven economy with a core interest in providing content ownership to the users instead of any centralized entity.
