How does VC funding affect NFTs?
Well, VC funding not only affects NFTs in a big way and it also impacts you and your bags as well.
Here's everything you need to know.
A thread 🧡 (1/10) πŸ‘‡πŸ»
(2/10) VC funding in NFTs has changed drastically between 2021 and 2022.
In 2021, volume on NFT marketplaces was through the roof and one of the biggest catalysts of that were VCs.
However, that is not the case anymore...
(3/10) With all the craziness in the world economy, VCs don't just blindly ape into random NFT projects anymore like retail investors like ourselves.
Rather they are going for very specific projects with roadmaps they genuinely believe in but of course, there is a catch.
(4/10) The catch is each of these projects that they do invest in goes through extreme due diligence.
Whether you like it or not all of these do impact your bags heavily and here's how you can capitalize and come out on top.
(5/10) With the current state of NFTs, VC-funded projects will almost always announce that they have funding even before they launch.
This makes is very easy to identify projects that might end up doing extremely well but how?
(6/10) See what people don't understand is the way you or I vs how a VC would analyze a project is very different.
VC-backed basically means they already did all the grunt-work for you in terms of how viable the project is and how competent the team is.
(7/10) The way you capitalize is by finding the companies/projects that the VC you are looking at invested in the past.
You base your decision on their previous track record and on top of that VC funding means floor sweeps from the team as well.
(8/10) You can just look at previous projects like @DeGodsNFT, @doodles, @AzukiOfficial, @DigiDaigaku etc that had VC funding to get a rough idea of how VC-backed projects perform.
Even the hype around the upcoming VC-backed project @joinvalhalla paints a clear picture.
(9/10) But don't get me wrong VC funded projects can still fail but it definitely makes your investments way less risky.
Here is a list of VCs in NFTs with a proven track record to look out for:
- a16z
- Coatue
- Benchmark
- Moonrock Capital
- Animoca Brands
(10/10) With that being that, I would definitely recommend always being on the lookout for projects with VC investments pre/post-mint and capitalising based on their track record.
