The difference between the du’a made at Tahajjud and any other du’a is that Allah ﷻ Himself descends and comes close to the one who makes du’a.
It is akin to a king coming to the door of a poor person. In normal circumstances, a poor person will enter upon the king and present his needs. In this, there is both a possibility of his needs being fulfilled, and also of not being fulfilled.
However, when the king himself knocks on the door of the poor person, then it is evident that his needs will definitely be fulfilled, as the king has presented himself out of his own discretion to fulfil the needs of the person.
Similarly, when Allah ﷻ descends at the time of Tahajjud, it is like the knock of the king on the needy person’s door, and for us to raise our hands at that time is like the needy person opening his door. The king is ready to fulfil his needs, all he needs to do is open the door
Allah ﷻ is ready to give, His descent is the knock on our door, all we have to do is open it by raising our hands.
