How to hack your brain and biology to 10x your productivity, performance and happiness:
If you suffer from a lack of drive or focus, feel stressed and lack connection
Then your brain and biology are working against you.
Here’s how you can hack your brain and biology to 10x your productivity, performance and happiness:
Certain neurotransmitters and hormones largely dictated your brain and biology, especially in relation to your productivity, performance, and happiness.
In this thread, you’ll learn how to hack your serotonin, dopamine, endorphins, oxytocin, and testosterone.
1. Serotonin
Serotonin is largely involved in regulating your sleep, mood, and happiness.
So, if you struggle with sleep and constantly feel down, you need to boost your serotonin:
• Consume more tryptophan (an amino acid) → Eggs, cheese, salmon or supplements
• Exercise every single day → walks work on rest days
• Spend more time in the sun
• Meditate
2. Dopamine
Dopamine is all about pursuit. It wants you to pursue things that give you pleasure.
However, this can ruin your focus, motivation and drive (through cheap, unearned dopamine) so to hack your dopamine:
• Consume more L-tyrosine (an amino acid) → Eggs, steaks or supplements
• Get 11 minutes of cold exposure/wk → Ice bath or cold shower @ 45-60ºF
• Reduce social media usage
• Set daily achievable goals
• Cross off tasks on your to-do list
3. Endorphins
Endorphins are designed to relieve pain and stress whilst boosting your mood. They’re your painkilling hormone.
If you suffer from mood swings, depression or anxiety, boost your endorphins by:
• Exercising daily → walks work on rest days
• Eat dark chocolate → cocoa increases endorphins
• Have a good laugh
4. Oxytocin
Oxytocin is all about regulating emotional responses and social behaviours.
Low oxytocin will cause poor communication, irritability and a feeling of loneliness, to boost your oxytocin:
• Spend time with loved ones/pets
• Give someone a hug
• Have sex
5. Testosterone
Testosterone makes effort feel good.
If your testosterone levels are low, you will lack motivation, discipline and a want to do anything that is hard and requires effort. Boost your T levels by:
• Lift weights
• Quit alcohol
• Get 8 hours of sleep
• Get down to 10-15% body fat
