One thing I've increasingly noticed in the FT comments, previously the one oasis of internet comment sanity, is that Brits/Euros are just getting increasingly unhinged with their "Western Democracy" vs "Evil Oriental Autocracy" beliefs.
These people seem blind to the fact that their own countries are in the process of getting slow-mo rekt due to various foreign policy and domestic factors that have manifested in their countries due to their relationships with the US.
Instead of just cold bloodedly evaluating the state of the transatlantic relationship for what it is, they just instead retreat into banal Western chauvinist beliefs that are basically variations of "West is best and right all the time, the Other is wrong".
Or some similar belief that goes "Yes us Western countries make mistakes, but at least we acknowledge them, while the Other is just EVIL". Just unhinged solipsism.
