This book tells the readers that seventeen-year-old Bharati โ€˜Ashaโ€™ Sahay, decides to join the Rani Jhansi Regiment of the Indian National Army after meeting Subhas Chandra Bose during the Second World War in Japan in June 1943
The author explains that she starts to jot down her thoughts in a diary, and thus begins one of the most significant personal accounts of the Indian freedom movement
Tanvi Srivastava also includes Asha's father Anand Mohan Sahay, who was a close companion of Bose and they both fought for India's Independence
She learns how to hold a rifle and shoot the enemy, and discovers what it means to be a patriot fighting for the liberation of a country she has no memories of but carries deepย inย herย heart
