When we talk Art, we always glorify the dead. Picasso. Van Gogh. Slim Aarons.
For a change, I thought Iโ€™d pay homage to William B Hoyt. His paintings speak for themselves. Contemporary Realism. Fine Art. In itโ€™s Truest Form.
A Manโ€™s Best Friend
โ€œWhile this piece shows a country kitchen, closer inspection reveals the focal point โ€” a photo by Jack Rowell depicting the timeless relationship between a man and his dog. Really two stories in one.โ€
The Fall of Man
Window at the Farm
โ€œThis house sits astride a narrow stretch of land on the island of Islesboro, with water to the east and west and sun streaming through morning and evening. Some days I sit very still and watch the shadows of the window panes slowly crawl from wall to wall.โ€
Peaches, Pluots, and Paul
Moon and Jupiter
โ€œOur sailboat was the last mooring out in the harbor, which gave us front row seats to watch both the dance between Jupiter and the crescent moon and the lobster boats getting their customary early start. Lobstering isnโ€™t as lucrative as the prices on the me..โ€
Winter Dinner
Valley Girls
โ€œLike clockwork, the farmer who keeps these Jerseys lets them out of the barn to spend a morning grazing. They know that the wet grass is the best theyโ€™ll get on this day, so they get to work. Then, almost without being told, they make their way back to the barnโ€ฆโ€
Peapod off Rockland
Floating on Clouds
On a mooring off J.O. Brownโ€™s in the Fox Island Thoroughfare, it was hard to tell where the water and sky parted ways. With not even a breath of wind to disturb the surface, the water is a perfect reflector.
These are all PAINTINGS by the way, itโ€™s amazing how much they look like a photograph.
