just discovered a girl i went to high school with is a mediocre youtube grifter giving giving "crypto and investment advice"
she looks good honestly
we were never single at the same time but we did go to the prom dance equivalent together. it was one of those things where i never seriously thought i had a shot even though we literally went to the prom equivalent together, youthful self hatred that kinda thing
its one of those things where she pretends to be cool and party travel etc, to sell a multi level marketing scam but if you read between the lines of her video titles you can tell she's broke
a lot of complicated emotions i wasnt expecting tonight
i think the worst cruelty of modernity and female liberation is that it made all women feel like frauds and they are always trying to very comedically hide their guilt they feel about not really understanding anything
i also just talked to my dad and he was having a couple drinks so i was already in a weird place, but now im just in space. im a moon man
now that you mention it, it is a pretty good setup for a screenplay. an inciting incident
sorta generational epic, a tapping into the millenial generation. you could go somewhere archetypical with this
it's like, playing on the expecations of a generation raised on movie tropes, "prom dances" and whatnot, juxtaposed with the humdrum of middle age, failure, lowered living standards, having to be an internet grifter to make ends meet and not having a career or owning a home
male and female versions of the same thing, party travel girl whos lonely and poor and the party's over, making half hearted scam videos, edgy intellectual loner artist who's too good for everthing who never made anything of himself and writes a pseudointellectual blog to cope
coming to terms with how it turns out the life they were sold and told to expect was bullshit and trying to become real people or at least make the best of their situation. both at the point of exiting the disney hollywood fantasy world to emerge into the real
so you have these two characters, and then you set them up as rediscovering each other through their online personas, and have a final conflict with their own previous expectations of life, ultimately discarding them. something like that
okay i got it. it's a kind of reverse roadtrip movie. they arrange to meet up exactly half way between where they are, and when they arrive, it turns out that that exact spot is Davos, schwitzerland
and from there you know it writes itself, they go into the tunnels, discover the mole children, stumple upon a black mass, through a serious of hillarious comedic slapstick mistakes, etc
team up to defeat the vampires, plant a series of explosives underground to end their dark empire, adopt one of the mole children as their own, escape in the nick of time, happy ever after
it's like the opening to from dusk till dawn, where the road trip is played straight and serious for 45 minutes, in a kind of social realism woe is me "oh wow so brutal and honest" kind of thing, and then it's 60 minutes of killing vampires. its from dusk to dawn
