As a person who doesn't really consider himself a horror fan (I find Stephen King unreadable), & who does not watch horror movies, here are my Halloween horror book recommendations. If you're similar to me in tastes, you might like these.
If you like "Stranger Things" (the whole kids on bikes fighting a supernatural evil theme), "Summer of Night" is the OG version. I loved it. goodreads.com
This is unashamedly a "Scooby Do" novel where the guy didn't license the IP and just renamed the characters. I'm shocked he has avoided a lawsuit. Anyway, it's a lot of fun, beyond just the nostalgia factor (which is also great). goodreads.com
One of my favorite fiction books I've read in the past ten years. It's actually the first in the series, and so far it's the best (tho I've only read the second book, but not the third. Fourth is out soon). goodreads.com
Ok, I had intended this thread to be longer, but it turns out I really just don't like or read horror books. I was pretty sure there was at least a fourth, but I guess not. This is kinda all I got, lol.
