On the lines of the above thread, now I'll present a thread for all the important treatises of architecture and urban planning in India.
Some here are available in English, most are not, but I'll tag the knowers of Saṃskṛta, who can help you out.
While elements of architecture and urban planning are found in other Saṃskṛta works as well, I shall only mention them briefly, because there, the central focus is not on architecture. Some dates are skipped due to uncertainty, rest are largely estimates.
ViśvakarmaVāstuśāstra, attributed to the god Viśvakarma
Nāradaśilpaśāstra, a treatise attributed to the sage Nārada
Vāstupradīpa
Mānasāra, circa 700 CE.
Mayamata, circa 11-12th centuries CE
Samarāṅgaṇa sūtradhāra, attributed to Mahārājādhirāja Bhoja Paramāra of Dhar, circa 11th century CE
Aparājitaprccha of Bhuvanadeva, circa 11-13 centuries CE:
Vāstumañjarī of Sūtradhāra Nāthā Bhāradvāja, circa 15th century CE
Vāstumaṇḍana, RājavallabhaVāstuśāstra and prāsādamaṇḍana of Sūtradhāra Maṇḍana Bhāradvāja, circa 1400s CE
Manuṣyālaya Candrikā of Nīlakaṇṭhana Mūsata, 1600s CE
Sūtradhāra Bāuri Mahārāṇā's Śilpaśāstra and Vāstuśāstra, deals with Odisha's architecture.
Special mention: Though some are hostile to Buddhism these days, here is a work from Śrī Laṅkā regarding their architecture, attributed to Mañjuśrī, presented in the spirit of a connoisseur.
Now I will mention a few encyclopaedic works and some others where you see architectural elements, but these are not primary here, yet are essential:
Nāṭyaśāstra of Bharata, Śāradātānya's bhāvaprakāśa, for theatre plans.
Agni Purāṇa, chapters 42-55, chapter 106, and Matsya Purāṇa, chapters 252-270 for architecture and urban planning in general
Kāmikāgama and other āgama-s for placement of temples and for urban planning.
Bṛhatsaṃhitā of Varāhamihīra, chapters 53-58, for architecture and urban planning in general.
Will add more as and when they are published. Feel free to use these for enriching your sense of aesthetics.
