In 1905, a 22 yr 👩 came to him with blurring of vision & redness conjuctival redness
Fundus exam showed abnormality in retinal vessels, "coronary anastomosis," an AV anastomosis around optic disc
He reported it as "Case of peculiar changes in the central retinal vessels"

Professor of Kyushu University, Dr. Yoshiakira Ohnishi also mentioned a case resembling the ophthalmic manifestations, which was presented by Dr. Takayasu previously along with *B/L absence of radial pulse.*
Subsequently,"Takayasu disease" name was proposed in case reports

✳️ Early symptoms are non specific, hence easily missed
✳️ Headache and hypertension without an alternate diagnosis
✳️ Vascular complications like ischemia, raynaud's, renal failure
