Concepts describing refraction&dispersion of light into its component colors -credited to Isaac Newton- were described 700yrs earlier by Ibn Al-Haytham, an Iconic figure in Science & 1st to use the scientific method,500 yrs before the Scientific Revolution
๐ŸงตIBN AL-HAYTHAM๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ”ฌ..
He authored 100s of works on mathematics, religious philosophy, optics, & astronomy(describing the motion of planets), which inspired Johannes Kepler.
His most famous work: Book of Optics - was translated into Latin & disseminated throughout Europe in the Middle Ages๐Ÿ‘‡
His work influenced many great thinkers, incl. Roger Bacon, who wrote a summary of it
In this book, Ibn Al-Haytham correctly identified that eyesight is caused by light entering the eye, contradicting an earlier belief adopted by Euclid and Ptolemy that light is emitted from the eye
His Legacy provided the basis for many of the great scientific discoveries of later scholars like Galileo & Kepler.
"Ibn al-Haytham revolutionized our understanding of how light moves through the Universe&how we see it.He urged people to question ancient knowledge"
Bennett Sherry
Some historians consider Ibn Al-Haytham the first scientist because of his rigorous processes for proposing and then testing theories. He used this method in his own work and encouraged others to do so in his books. He wrote:

This thread represents a fraction of the many accomplishments & revolutionary ideas introduced & developed by Ibn Al-Haytham..
We can never do justice to a man who has literally changed how we see the way we see๐Ÿ‘๏ธ
