43 years ago at 3 pm on Saturday,11th August 1979,a devasting flood disaster occurred at Morbi town with 80000 population due to failed earthen embarkment of Machchhu 2 dam. Estimated death toll was about 25000 in this flood havoc. It was a devasting havoc of Gujarat history.

43 years ago there was no NDRF like force nor disaster management.Around 25000 people & many cattle died in Morbi flood disaster of 1979.Govt. employees refused to carry rotten corpses of dead. So R.S.S. volunteers did the job irrespective of religion. Here is Chitralekha article
