There is some bizarre desire to link Covid to cancer via p53. The study is obviously meaningless.
Yet some promotors live in a fantasy world where if we 'just masked up again' we could stop Covid 19 infections
That is not an option, sadly ๐งต

The virus is too contagious. No matter what you would do, it will infect everyone. That process is almost over. And then it begins again
Best to try to have most of that infection (of older people) after vaccination rather than before.
But stopping spread is not an option

Dampening spread post vaccine can't happen. People wont stop socializing, no matter how much you fear mongering. (exhibit A - America)
They are immune to fear based messaging. (it did work better in 2020)

Vaccines lowered severe disease against prevailing strains in early 2021, But were not studied against the endpoint of transmission, and could not stop transmission, as clearly shown by summer of 2021
Mandates were unjustified.
Perpetual boosters in young populations are unjustified unless you can show further reductions in severe disease in those populations, extremely unlikely given absolute effect sizes are floored.

Vaccine effectiveness against any symptomatic infection is so poor, and so fleeting, even an IV drip of boosters will barely put a damper on spread.
Historically, when people had mild upper respiratory tract infections, we did not evoke long-term cancer, or permanent disability. The bar to make such a claim should be exceedingly high. That bar has never been sated from an evidence-based stand point
For some people whose preferred policy conclusion is to sit in a bunker, It seems the more they can find fearful side effects of COVID, the better. It justifies their deranged policy.
Ultimately, most people are 100% past COVID-19. Though there are still some noted exceptions.
Colleges still mandate pointless boosters
And I still have to fill out a symptom questionnaire. Bizarre, anti-science, unproven, pointless.

Many people's lives were permanently disrupted because they were fired from their jobs for declining to take a vaccine that didn't help third parties anyway.
Thankfully some judges in New York State are rectifying this tragedy.

If anything, there has already been tremendous overreach by public health, lies and exaggeration. And those will likely spell the demise of some of these institutions.
Probably only a matter of time until a politician dismantles CDC
Probably only a matter of time until a politician dismantles CDC
That's not my preferred policy end game. I'd like to see institutions with time limited powers, and tasked with generating evidence. If they cannot generate evidence then their powers will fade.
I think we should incentivize scientists to use science. Run more cluster randomized trials in cases of uncertainty and in the meantime stop lying about the certainty of the evidence.
That will be my preferred policy conclusion.
I won't be worrying one bit about p-53 and COVID-19. If you're worried about cancer, better to stop smoking, lose weight, drink in moderation
