China has completed its space station after starting construction last year. By contrast, the ISS took 10 years to build...
Reminder: China was part of ISS until 2011, when the US prohibited NASA from collaborating with China, citing "human rights" 🙄

Yet again, like we'll undoubtedly see with semi-conductors, a case where the US needlessly builds China into a formidable competitor in a domain where they used to be partners.
What prohibiting NASA from working with China does for "human rights" remains a mystery to this day...
People point out that Tiangong is smaller than ISS. Sure (about 4k cubic feet of living space vs 12k for ISS), but is that what matters?
A space station's does research so what arguably matters more is how up to date everything is... And ISS is really showing its age 🔽
Also let's not forget that the International Space Station is a shared project by many countries (Canada, Japan, Russia, the US and the EU) whereas the Chinese space station is, well, Chinese.
At the end of the day, China is now the only country to have it own space station.
