I finally realized the reason why @DavidAFrench bothers me more than anyone else here is bc he’s the exact opposite of everything I want to be. While I’m sure this will contain observations made many times before, I decided to make a thread for the sake of my own catharsis 1/14
French demoralizes members of his own tribe to gain favor with the ruling tribe- I want to remoralize members of many tribes at the expense of the ruling tribe. While he’s willing to do anything to retain entry into their club, not only do I not want entry… 2/14
… I want them evicted from the premises. I’ll only consider entering once they’re gone and the club is under new management, and I don’t want to so much as brush against them as we cross paths. 3/14
I want to build bridges w others to overturn the prevailing order, he burns his own as a sacrifice to Moloch with the moral pretensions of a monk. I’m not even a Christian but I have the impulse to defend them simply from the way he treats them 4/14
Selectively quoting scripture to preach unconditional pacifism and repeatedly stab his own group in the back *while telling them they deserve it* to remain in the good graces of a power structure whose moral repugnance is self evident. 5/14
I don’t need to be a theologian to know about that thing that guy said about wolves in sheeps clothing and I recognize one when I see it- not exactly difficult when that wolf constantly attacks his own flock no matter what they do just to gain the acceptance of other wolves. 6/14
I also don’t need to be a Christian to know what the Bible says about praying in public, yet he never misses a chance to brandish his supposed piety as a shield against criticism; so superior to the deplorables (decent people betrayed by their leaders) he hovers above them 8/14
I think I’m morally superior to those I oppose solely on the basis that I don’t cheerfully ruin society by destroying its best citizens for my personal gain, so it’s only a win by default. I shudder at the thought of non-ironically claiming I’m more virtuous than any of you 9/14
In truth- while I try put my best foot forward in my Substack- I do not consider myself a particularly good person. I’m just on their side because I happen to have a personal grievance with their enemies, but I would never claim I’m actually one of them. 10/14
CS Lewis famously lamented the consequences of men without chests. I’m not even claiming to have a chest, but at least I aspire to have one. And like Don Corleone famously said in The Godfather: “Any man who doesn’t aspire to have a chest can never be a real man” 11/14
But while David is accomplished, renowned, and credentialed (even if all that recognition came from a pit of hollow, duplicitous lizard people) and I’m still toiling in relative obscurity, I have no doubt over which of our approaches will prevail. Do you know why that is? 12/14
Because no matter what station we currently occupy in society, I am someone who aspires to have a chest & he is someone who attacks those with chests while pretending it’s because of the presence of his own. That’s enough for me to know he doesn’t even have God on his side 13/14
As I have no doubt He would gladly pick a non-believer like me over a follower like him. 14/14
