9 Google Ads tips that can double your return-on-ad-spend in under 30 days:
1. Use headlines that show offers that benefit the customer
Customers are interested in what benefits them, not in what you're selling.
In your headlines create angles that show an explicit benefit such as: x-amount-off sales, the big promise or benefit of your product.
2. Align intent between all marketing materials.
Make sure your ads, keywords, and landing pages are all aligned with the same message and intent.
People see your ad and click, but if the message on the landing page doesn't match what they clicked on, they'll leave immediately.
3. Optimize the landing page.
Most PPC agencies test ads, but they never improve the landing page.
This is a lost opportunity.
A bad landing page will decrease your ROAS every time.
Test everything on the lander, from copy to design to offer.
4. Set up tracking.
You can’t increase the performance of your ads if you don’t know what’s losing or winning.
Follow Google’s recommendations for conversion tracking.
It’s simple and will give you a better overview of how your ads and product pages are converting.
5. Watch the winners.
After setting up the campaign watch their performance closely.
Use bidding strategies like MaxC/MaxCV to generate data fast.
Cut the consistently losing once quickly.
Test until you find winners.
Switch to tROAS once conversion volume starts coming in.
6. Don't use Google display network for eCom.
The Google Display Network is made up of millions of websites, apps, and video content but...
eCommerce sites have a lower click-through rate on display ads because people are not in shopping mode when they are generally browsing.
Focus your eCommerce Google Ads campaigns on the search network.
Higher intent - better conversions.
7. Load up on social proof
Fill your landing page with social proof
- Reviews
- Testimonials
- Videos
- Case studies
They are the most persuasive elements in marketing.
8. Never neglect remarketing.
Use remarketing to get conversion from people who already visited but didn’t buy.
They are further down in the buyer journey.
To maximise your return-on-ad-spend, remarket to customers who took action like adding to cart.
9. Add Ad extensions.
Increases space taken up by ads.
Gives the customer more reasons to choose you.
- Add links to specific pages
- Add links to customer reviews
Use extensions to make your ads more relevant and improve your clickthrough rate.
