Three yrs ago, I was teaching some non-Afrikan students critical Afrikan studies at an American elite University centre for talented youths. I explored colonial contacts with four Afrikan nations: Yoruba, Asante, Igbo & Zulu. After weeks of critical analysis, I tested my students
The question for d test was: did colonialism benefit Afrikans? Yes/No? Why?
Interestingly, all my students came to the same conclusion: No, colonialism did not benefit Afrikans. One of the students gave a mind-blowing explanation. Note that d seminar was on critical analysis
The student said: U can’t give what U don’t have & most normal people don’t take what they already had. If Europeans really saved afrika, afrika is supposed to be greater today than before. Europe actually came to Afrika to take all that Afrika had that europe didn’t have.
Why did I raise this topic. Most of the problems we are facing in afrika today resides in our mentality. EuroArab came to enslave & chained us down with nations, religions, cultures, & education sys, that eraze independent ways of reasoning from us. Most of us a proud of d chains
