@Hadithoftheday Madinah.
Masjid Qiblatayn is historically important to Muslims because it is where the Qur’anic revelation for Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to change the direction of the qibla took place.
The qibla was then changed forever, from Bait Al-Maqdis in Jerusalem to the Kaaba in Makkah
@Hadithoftheday The command to shift the direction of salah to the Kabah was revealed to the Prophet ﷺ about 16-17 months after his immigration to Madinah.
@Hadithoftheday The first Qiblah that Muslims faced in their prayers was Al-Aqsa Masjid in Jerusalem.
In Makkah before the immigration to Madinah, Muslims were commanded to face Jerusalem in their prayer. This was the first Qibla that Muslims faced during the salah.
@Hadithoftheday After immigrating to Madinah, the Muslims continued to face Jerusalem for more 16 or 17 months. The Jews of Madinah rejoiced the fact that the Prophet had to take their sacred city as a Qibla. They used this to spread doubts about the validity of Islam. +
@Hadithoftheday Prophet ﷺ used to look up to heaven waiting eagerly for a command to face the Kabah.
Finally, after about 16 months in Madinah, Allah commanded Muslims to face the Kabah in their prayer.
@Hadithoftheday Allah says in Quran:
We have certainly seen the turning of your face, [O Muhammad], toward the heaven,& We will surely turn you to a qiblah with which you will be pleased
So turn your face toward al-Masjid al-Haram & wherever you are,turn your faces toward it [in prayer] (2:144)
@Hadithoftheday Narrated Al-Bara R.A:
The Prophet ﷺ prayed towards Bayt al-Maqdis for sixteen or seventeen months, and he was hoping that the Qiblah would be towards the House (i.e., the Kabah)
+
@Hadithoftheday Then after that Allaah commanded him to face the direction of the Kabah (the Sacred House), in the aayah so turn your face in the direction of al-Masjid al-Haraam (at Makkah) & wheresoever you people are, turn your faces (in prayer) in that direction [al-Baqarah 2:144] (Bukhari)
@Hadithoftheday Muslims were commanded to change Prayer Direction whilst they were Praying in Masjid.
It is where the Qur’anic revelation for Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to change the direction of the qibla took place.
Thus, this Masjid was named as "Masjid Al-Qiblatain i.e The Mosque of Two Qiblahs
@Hadithoftheday The qibla was then changed forever, from Bait Al-Maqdis in Jerusalem to the Holy Kaaba in Makkah
The mosque was named after this incident, as the mosque of the two qiblas, because part of the prayer was performed facing Jerusalem, and the rest was toward Makkah
@Hadithoftheday May Almighty Allah allow us to reach Masjid Aqsa, Masjid Al Haram, Masjid Al-Qiblatain and Masjid Nabawi at least once in our life. Aamen
